French Onion Tart (Serves 4)

Caramelised onions in shortcrust pastry, garnished with Gruyère cheese and thyme. A classic, comforting French onion tart that’s rich and flavoursome. The onions are cooked for half an hour with butter, salt, sugar and stock so they are soft and sweet.

Ingredients

Onions (46%), Shortcrust Pastry (26%) [Egg, Wheat Gluten, Milk], Double Cream [Milk], Semi-Skimmed Milk, Free Range Pasteurised Whole Egg, Gruyere Cheese (4%) [Milk], Garlic, Butter [Milk], Salt, Roast Onion Stock [Wheat Gluten, Soya], Sugar, Thyme.

Shortcrust Pastry contains: Wheat Flour, Butter, Water, Egg Yolk, Lemon Juice, Salt. Wheat Flour contains: Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Nicotinamide (Vit B3), Thiamine Hydrochloride (Vit B1). Gruyere Cheese contains: Unpasteurised Cow’s Milk, Salt, Animal Rennet, Lactic Acid Bacteria. Roast Onion Stock contains: Maltodextrin, Reconstituted Roast Onion (Water, Roast Onion Powder), Salt, Molasses, Soy Sauce (Water, Soybean, Wheat, Salt), Sugar, Sunflower Oil, Onion Powder, Yeast Extract. This product is made in our kitchen in Kent, using onions from the EU.

Cooking Instructions

SERVES 4

OVEN COOK FROM FROZEN

OVEN:
Preheat oven. Remove from all packaging and place on a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Cook in the top of the oven.
OVEN SETTINGS

Fan 170°C, Electric 190°C, Gas Mark 5.

30 mins > rotate tray 180° > 15-20 mins
Ensure the centre of the tart is firm to the touch and the top is golden brown. Allow to rest for 15 mins before serving.
DEFROST INSTRUCTIONS:
Due to the base becoming fragile when defrosted, remove tart from box and place on a baking tray with greaseproof paper prior to defrosting. Should this product defrost, keep refrigerated and eat within 48 hours. Follow the oven guidelines, but cook for 25-30 mins.
