Marmite

Marmite is a yeast extract spread which is often found on sandwiches, crackers or a nice slice of toast. Famously loved by some and loathed by others, it was originally developed as a by-product of beer brewing. Its somewhat polarising effect on people may be attributed to its strong umami flavour, a characteristic that makes it ideal as an additional ingredient to many classic recipes. Taste-wise, it truly packs a punch and a little goes a long way.
